Elizabeth Bay: Luxury and Accessibility

A client recently asked us to help a family of five customise their dream penthouse apartment in the city.

Despite the incredible views, functionality and ease-of-use were difficult for the father who needed a wheelchair. There was also a disconnect between accessing his children who had bedrooms on the second storey.

Our brief was to make the space more functional and ‘smart’ with home automation [link to blog] for comfort and ease of living. The kitchen and bathroom needed to become more accessible and convenient.

We drafted a more open plan that made the entry and use of each room simpler. Sensor lighting, automatic doors, and a state-of-the-art kitchen and a bathroom that our client could use independently were added.

The next stage of the renovation will see an elevator installed to the second storey.

The family now enjoy not only the scenic skyline but also a greater sense of harmony, convenience, and connectedness.
