We were engaged to breathe new life in to this tired one-bedroom unit in an Erskineville heritage warehouse conversion, but this was always going to be very much a budget renovation. Clever kitchen design was key to this project, which increased storage and benchtop space without impacting the flow of the open-plan living area.

The bathroom was also given a complete redesign with new 1.8 metre bath, shower, toilet and vanity. The New Black Interiors team handled the decorating utilising a sophisticated, visually coherent scheme to create a greater sense of space throughout.

This project was turned around within an extremely tight timeline and stuck to budget. Just 12 months after completion the revitalised unit sold for an unprecedented price, smashing the suburb record for an apartment of that size.

We were engaged to rework a classic California bungalow into a modern family home with open living areas, a large deck flowing from the rear of the house, and a new garage providing the client with a spacious workshop. Working closely with a local engineer, our job was to provide a full set of drawings including proposed additions, new floor plans plus elevations and cross sections for the Complying Development application.

Through clever design we were able to create drawings that were swiftly approved by Randwick Council and met Sydney Water’s strict regulations.

It doesn’t happen often but it’s great when neighbours both plan a renovation at the same time, in this case with very different styles.

While these homes were mirror images of each other, they aren’t anymore.

One wanted a ultra modern minimalist home, with storage built in to every nook and cranny. The other family wanted to retain and enhance the heritage features of the home including fireplaces, tin ceilings and original tiling where possible.
